Camberwell House

This heritage home in leafy Camberwell underwent an extensive internal renovation and architecturally designed extension to the rear of the block incorporating a swimming pool and exterior deck. Our clients engaged us to formulate a design concept that worked with the proposed modern extension, as the desire was to blend the original character of the home and create a material palette that was warm and inviting with a contemporary touch. They were after a home that reflected them, including a more softened approach towards the design and were after a personalised touch and to be involved in the selection process.

Working closely with the clients and the builder, a curated range of materials, finishes and fittings was specified for the entire home as well as designing custom joinery for the home office and wardrobes including a functional study nook. The existing front part of the home underwent a tasteful update adding an ensuite and robes and purposefully maintaining a more traditional feel with the rear extension a modern contrast. Small details such as the timber pelmets were re instated in the bedrooms to maintain the character and provide a finished look for the custom sheers and blinds that were installed.

In all, we were mindful to create a classic contemporary blend and an effortless vibe for the family and it really came down to the mix of natural materials.

Porcelain bench-tops with polished concrete floors, stacked stone accents, black-butt timbers and matte black fittings. A custom 2pac paint was selected for the kitchen and office joinery that added a soft grey-green, balanced perfectly with the hand-cut sage subway tiles used in the pantry and laundry. Japanese accent tiles created a subtle textural statement in the bathrooms and were highlighted by the natural light streaming in. Feature pendant lights by Cult and Furniture from Domo.
