Brighton Apartment

The concept explored soft inclusions of powdered blues with natural textures such as Italian terrazzo on the floors in the kitchen to pay homage to the Deco details found in the apartment complex. The laundry was relocated from the bathroom, freeing up useable space  and neatly hidden behind the original cupboard doors in the hallway.

The fireplace was painted and updated with a traditional style wood burner with a terrazzo hearth to tie in with the new kitchen flooring. Timber floors were stained darker with a lovely soft natural paint colour chosen to create calm.

The Kitchen door was relocated and mirrored from its original position allowing for additional bench space and improved flow and storage – so important in an apartment-sized kitchen. Materials comprised of soft powdered blue joinery with panel detail, paired with porcelain benchtops and open timber shelving. We even managed to squeeze in a hidden integrated dishwasher.

The bathroom footprint is larger as we removed the laundry and shower over the bath, allowing for a much more functional walk-in shower. We specified timeless Japanese tiles as the feature laying them floor to ceiling for maximum impact and Italian porcelain tiles for surrounding walls and floors. Accent sculptural wall lights set the mood and offset the curve of the basins. Brushed nickel fittings throughout create consistency and a timeless understated feel.

The bedrooms included new built-in robes and a larger footprint, adding much-needed natural light to the home, as well as updated saucer pendants for a classic touch.
