We combined cleverly designed custom-built joinery, soft furnishings and decor to create a calm and effortless space our clients love coming home too.
This late 1990s townhouse in Melbourne’s eastern suburb of Bentleigh underwent a thoughtful interior refresh designed to improve functionality, increase storage and create a calmer, more cohesive atmosphere for modern family living. While the home had generous proportions and good natural light, the interiors felt visually disconnected and lacked warmth, personality and practical storage solutions suited to everyday use.
Eclectic Creative was engaged to reimagine the home through a layered interior approach that combined custom joinery, bespoke furnishings, updated finishes and considered styling. Rather than undertaking a full renovation, the focus was on making strategic design interventions that would dramatically improve the overall feel and functionality of the spaces while working within the existing footprint of the home.
Custom-designed joinery was introduced to create more practical storage and establish stronger visual cohesion throughout the interiors. Soft sage and earthy tones were layered with warm timber finishes, tactile fabrics and custom upholstery to soften the home’s original hard finishes and create a more relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Existing timber flooring was refinished to bring warmth and continuity across the spaces, while carefully selected artwork, lighting and decorative pieces introduced depth, personality and a more collected aesthetic.
Furniture selections were carefully considered to balance comfort and practicality for family living while maintaining a refined contemporary feel. Layered textiles, sculptural forms and subtle tonal variation helped create interiors that feel calm, effortless and highly liveable without feeling overly formal or trend-driven.
The result is a warm and functional townhouse that feels significantly more resolved, connected and reflective of the homeowners themselves. This Bentleigh project demonstrates how thoughtful interior design, custom joinery and considered styling can completely transform the experience of a home without the need for major structural renovation.
