Elwood Townhouse

This architecturally designed townhouse in Melbourne’s bayside suburb of Elwood underwent a thoughtful interior renovation focused on introducing warmth, personality and greater functionality for a young family. While the home featured strong contemporary architecture and generous natural light, the interiors initially felt minimal and lacked the layered softness and individuality the clients were seeking.

Eclectic Creative was engaged to transform the atmosphere of the home through custom joinery, bold colour selections, layered furnishings and carefully curated styling. The design direction focused on balancing the clean architectural lines of the townhouse with richer textures, moodier tones and more expressive interior detailing to create spaces that felt relaxed, welcoming and reflective of the family living within them.

Custom-designed joinery played a key role throughout the project, improving storage and functionality while introducing warmth and visual depth to the interiors. Moody blue tones, tactile finishes and natural materials were layered throughout the home to soften the contemporary architecture and create a stronger sense of character and cohesion between spaces.

Furniture, rugs, artwork and decorative lighting were carefully selected to bring personality and comfort into the home while maintaining a refined contemporary feel. Rather than competing with the architecture, the layered interior approach helped the spaces feel more grounded, inviting and emotionally connected.
