Spring has sprung in the southern hemisphere and you might be feeling a little tired of the same old, monotonous color scheme in your home. If you want to infuse some life and vibrancy into your living space without going overboard here are 5 really simple tips to get you started.

1. Start with Soft Furnishings:

Let’s begin with the simplest and most cost-effective way to introduce colour into your space – through soft furnishings. Think accent cushions on your sofa, armchair or in the bedroom, textured throws – ideal for trans-seasonal weather and even changing up your area rugs. We always encourage you to mix and match patterns and textures to create a casual lived-in inviting atmosphere, after all, we are all about eclectic interiors!

2. Play with Wall Art and Decor:

Working with Artwork and displaying decorative items is a fantastic way to add personality and colour to your interior and a rather easy way to freshen things up come Spring. You don’t have to invest in expensive pieces; look for local artists and makers in your area. We love Gallery walls (a curation of art and objects curated together on a wall)  are a casual and rather individual way to display a collection of your favorite prints and photographs. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider painting an accent wall in a complimentary cheerful tone to make a statement without overwhelming the room.

3. Get Green with Indoor Plants:

Its no surprise that we love indoor plants at Eclectic Creative and believe houseplants are not only great for your indoor air quality but also for adding a pop of natural color to your space. Whether you go for a lush indoor jungle or a few carefully placed succulents, greenery can effortlessly infuse life and vibrancy into your interior. Plus, taking care of your plants can be a satisfying and therapeutic hobby.

With the warmer weather approaching due to Spring, local nurseries and garden stores are filled with so many options. Remember to choose the right plant for your space and read the tags. There are many varieties ideal for low light, full sun or part shade.

We treat them just like any other styling item or object – curate them into your #shelfie styling, add them to your bathroom and study. Just remember to pop them outside every so often for some sunshine, if the light is lacking high on a shelf.

4. Rethink Your Furniture:

While you may not want to replace all your furniture, you can add color by reupholstering or painting pieces. For instance, an updated accent chair or a coffee table in a bold colour can serve as a focal point in your room. If you’re feeling crafty, consider giving a piece of furniture a DIY makeover. We love using Porters Chalk emulsion paint as it adheres to almost anything and has such a lovely matte finish. (Ideal for those facebook marketplace finds!)

5. Paint or wallpaper an accent wall:

If you’re ready to take the plunge and add some color to your walls, consider painting an accent wall. This is a fantastic way to infuse personality into a room without overwhelming the entire space. Perhaps start with a hallway or a bedroom, a study, or a small little nook that needs livening up.

Opt for removable wallpaper if you’re not keen on committing to a specific colour for the long term and it makes life easy when you can just remove it, or you are renting.

Have fun implementing a few or all of these tips, as we welcome Spring.
