SMALL BUSINESS LIFE
Why You Need an Interior Decorator or Designer
We realise that hiring a Designer and Decorator can come with a bit of mystery, confusion or misconceptions.
Is it going to cost the earth? Will they just come in and change everything… and not listen to me? Designers are just snooty and pretentious! What do they actually do… I can just do that myself!
Designers are communicators, problem solvers, therapists, visual magicians and really good listeners. Its our job to communicate visually your space or your brand, blending function and form. We are visual storytellers and our main priority is to assist you with the process.
So why should you hire someone like me?
Our approach at Eclectic Creative prides itself on a non pretentious and down-to-earth service where we like to get to know you, understand your lifestyle, aspirations and goals and then seek to implement these through a personalised design process.
We help you understand your unique interior or brand personality and tell this very special story through the decoration, styling and visuals. (…everyone has a story..and you need to tell it!)
I came to quickly realise that our industry has many misconceptions attached to it, and a little confusion as to what we actually do and why our role is so important.
Decorating, Designing and Styling isn’t as easy as it looks, and it isn’t just about choosing a few throw cushions and some pretty fabric, like TV reality shows lead you to believe. There is an entire process behind a project to ensure a beautiful outcome is achieved every single time.
There are significant benefits with hiring a professional, and when I say a professional, make sure you do your homework before engaging someone. Basically, our industry has reached saturation point, with fledging stylists and home decorators a-plenty, it’s easy to be misled into thinking its an industry full of amateurs, and everyone can do this.
Well let me tell you when you do work with someone who is trained and skilled, and matches your aesthetic and approach, the process is a magical one and you will see the benefits almost immediately. So how can someone like me help you?
Let me explain.
“Basically, our industry has reached saturation point, with fledging stylists and home decorators a-plenty, it’s easy to be misled into thinking its an industry full of amateurs, and everyone can do this”
1. You will save time
No more spending hours on Pinterest, wasting your weekends at busy shopping centres and showrooms and having a mini meltdown with your partner in the paint aisle at Bunnings. Working with a decorator you will have a plan of attack, and remain focused when making design decisions, ultimately saving you precious time and plenty of headaches. Your time will be spent making progress on your latest project, knowing well that you are working towards that specific interior goal.
2. You will save money
When you save time, you ultimately save money too. No more wasting thousands on big ticket items, only to realise its the wrong size or completely the wrong look for what you are going for. End all that wreck-less spending and shopping or being led astray during sale time. Working with a decorator, like me means you also have access to trade only suppliers and we can pass on fantastic discounts where we can.
We can also help you plan out your budget and assess where money is best spent when it comes to your furniture and decor. I understand how important budgets are, we are all human and have so many expenses, so it’s really important to work out where the money is better spent and how we can achieve the look according to your budget.

3. You will get professional help
We can add a brand new perspective to a project, with our skilled designer eye. At the very beginning of any project, I meet with you in your home to discuss your space and your specific needs. In this hour I’ll give my professional opinion as well help you see things in a whole new light. Perhaps there are things you may not have considered or a material or colour you could have never imagined. You will have a personal guide helping you make those difficult decisions and choices when it comes to your home.
4. You have access to our Little Black Book
A really great Decorator or Designer should have an overflowing little black book of the best contacts in the industry. I have an extensive community of local makers, suppliers and retailers that I trust and recommend for my projects and in most cases can even pass on a few designer only discounts to you!
A main reason you would engage someone like me is to have access to things, not everyone else has, so a sense of exclusivity and confidence knowing the end result will be bespoke and individualised for your needs.
